Anda & Ane's favorites in Vienna
Young designers Anda and Ane from Concepto shared the sources of inspiration for their fashion collections and the best places for shopping in the Austrian capital.
They are full of energy and enthusiasm when it comes to fashion and those emotions translate perfectly into the clothing and accessories that they make under the Concepto brand. Their leather fringed pieces have ruled the street style columns from last year’s fashion weeks and the girls expect no less from their current line. They work in Romania, but are often living and enjoying the lifestyle of Vienna, where they have had the experience of showing their work during the MQ Vienna Fashion Week.
So, who wouldn’t like to know the most stylish things to do in Vienna from two passionate fashionistas?
3 things about you that we need to know.
Anda: I am very determined, I like what I do very much and I love spending time with my family.
Ane: For me it’s very important to have all my clothes arranged by color. I love shoes and my cardio classes and spending time with my nephew Sasha!
How did the Concepto story begin? What made you decide to start a clothing & accessories brand?
Anda: It all started by wanting to be different and thus also dress differently from other people. We started doing our own clothes and received a good feedback from our friends. They were always asking us about our T-shirts or our dresses.
Ane: We started this brand without knowing how difficult this business can be. We were very naive at first but then we started to learn more about how to manage our own business. It was tough at first and even now it is the same, but the reward is beautiful and very empowering.
Concepto is a brand that appeals to all the active women who want to be comfortable and stylish at the same time.
What inspires you when you create the Concepto collections?
Anda: This is a tough one. Everything, from a piece of art to a man in the street, a song, a movie, a color. It’s like a beautiful process that is taking place 24/7. It is a very thrilling feeling when we are about to start a new collection, because at first we have so many ideas and so different ones. It’s exciting to see how every new collection takes shape.
Ane: It’s a very strange process to see what inspired us from a collection to another. I don’t know… Daily life inspires me, every person that I meet, every experience that I have. For sure we are inspired by people in general, but we create for women because we connect with them, we can understand them.
How would you describe the person who wears Concepto, the person you make clothing for?
Anda: We are creating clothes for the powerful women, the ones that connect with our brand. It’s a brand that appeals to all the active women who want to be comfortable and stylish at the same time.
Ane: We create looks that work 24/7. You can step out in the morning in our clothes and with the minimum changes (shoes and make-up) you’ll be ready in the evening for cocktails or parties or for whatever you need to do.
What was the biggest challenge you had to overcome since you started the brand?
Anda: For me, it was knowing how to deal with people. It is very hard to make everybody understand your vision and have them apply it at your standards. It’s a long process that takes a lot of hard work and determination.
Ane: The biggest challenge for me was, and still is, focusing on the collection that we are doing at that specific time. My mind is thinking in advance and I want to do lots of things. If it were humanly possible I would do 3 collections at once.
What are your favorite international fashion brands or fashion designers?
Anda: Alexander Wang, Carven, Prada, Dior and the old style of the house Alexander McQueen. I also love shopping and finding new designers that are fresher and edgier.
Ane: Sacai, Carven, Miu Miu, Alexander Wang, Fendi.
Could you tell us about your personal style? What do you like to wear?
Anda: I’m very much into the androgyne look. I love simple pieces with a clean cut. My favorite piece in my wardrobe is a black coat from our “Androgin” collection.
Ane: I love color and happy pieces, but like Anda I enjoy an outfit with a simple cut. Our collection for this season, “Utopia”… you can tell that it’s more about me.
When you are in a shopping mood in Vienna, we can find you at…
Anda: In Vienna at Fishers, Peek & Cloppenburg or at the Parndorf Designer Outlet for the basic pieces.
Ane: You’ll find me also in Vienna at Amicis, Steffl and all the small cool shops on Kärntner Strasse.
Recently, you presented you latest collection at the Vienna Fashion Week. Tell us a little bit about the experience. I know it’s not your first time there.
Anda & Ane: A great experience with good feedback. We were very nervous at first and during our fitting hours, but we had a great team and the show turned awesome. We had good models and the technical team was perfect. We would like to thank all of them again for all the good work.
Since you have been in Vienna so many times, we are curious to know your favorite things to do in the city.
