Fourty years ago Marithé & Francois Girbaud invented the "Stonewashed" Jeans. After fifteen years of Research they presented their patented "Wattwash" production technology using light instead of water.
Sustainability is one of the main topics of our time and becomes more and more important in Fashion industry too. The production process for "used look" Jeans consumes a lot of water and uses mainly toxic substances or Sandblasting. Therefore the production is mainly done in countries with low wages and non restrictive environmental protection laws.
M+F Girbaud presented again at the Première Vision fair in Paris their new technique "Wattwash". In the production process they use now laser light in order to cut the right form of the jeans as well as create the "used look". With this method shown in a Video
they revolutionize the way Jeans are made in a green way.
Bleaching and acid treatments uses 170 liters of water. With this new innovation, Girbaud only uses 5 liters of water and thus they are saving 97,5% ! M+F Girbaud proved once again that they are always on the edge of Denim & Casual fashion, this time with a unique ecological etch. We like it!
