Stella McCartney might have came to the public's attention because of her famous father, but she made a name for herself soon after graduating from Central Saint Martins, with a headline-worthy final collection modelled by her supermodel friends Naomi Campbell, Yasmin Le Bon and Kate Moss. The collection sold immediately and the designs were licences by the likes of Browns, Bergdorf Goodman or Neiman Marcus.
In 1997 she succeeded Karl Lagerfeld at the helm of Chloé, a decision questioned at first, but which proved successful, critically and commercially. Four years later, her name got enough attention to start her own brand, and se she did, to great success once again. Her clean feminine designs fit for a cosmopolitan woman are popular among celebrities and have led to her collections now being distributed to over 50 countries worldwide.
