Created in 2002 in New York City by two Parsons graduates - Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez - Proenza Schouler was named after their mothers' maiden names. The designers' joint senior thesis became the brand's first collection, that was bought entirely by Barneys New York. The duo seem to be CFDA favourites, winning the inaugural Vogue Fashion Fund award in 2004 and a further two Womenswear Designer of the Year awards in 2007 and 2011. Launching their first handbag collection in 2008 and luxury footwear in 2012, the brand has become even more popular for their contemporary look and youthful vibe.
