Dior is a French haute-couture fashion house established in 1946 by Christian Dior. The label is one of the most well-known in the world and today it offers high-end ready-to-wear, footwear, leather goods, jewellery, beauty products and of course, amazing haute-couture creations. The first Dior collection was launched in 1947, after the opening of its offices in Paris, at the 30 Avenue Montaigne address. The first Dior line represented the birth of the New Look, a new silhouette with a very small waist, ample, mid-calf long skirt. Though it was in the post-war restrictive period, Dior did not spare any money or effort in using only the best materials for his designs. The New Look became very popular and highly influenced the fashion of the '50s. It also brought celebrities and aristocrats to Dior as loyal customers. It was about that time that Dior expanded to the United States. Yves Saint Laurent was also part of the Dior history as creative director after Christian's death. Ever since the '80s, the fashion house is owned by Louis Vuitton Moët Hennessy and now, Raf Simons is creative director of the iconic fashion label.
