Altuzarra is the luxury women’s ready-to-wear brand created in 2008, in New York by French designer Joseph Altuzarra. He is the winner of the 2014 CFDA Womenswear Designer of the year Award, the most recent out of a consistent list. Joseph Altuzarra’s designs are influenced by his multicultural background. Altuzarra’s mother is Chinese-American and his father, French Basque. Jospeh studied ballet, art and art history before he left for New York to intern for Marc Jacobs. The Altuzarra Designer Profile indicates other positions at Proenza Schouler and Givenchy, before his big step in creating Altuzarra. The brand focuses on the modern woman and aims at making her feel strong, confident and thus, seductive. Actually, the motto of Altuzarra is Modern.Seductive.Sexy. Ever since its debut, Altuzarra earned great reviews and confirmations that it was, indeed, offering a realistic image of a confident woman of the 21st century. The positive reviews remained constant to this very day. Critics outline the sensual lines of the Altuzarra collections and the more or less subtle sexiness of the designs presented on the runway. Daring slits and sheer fabrics are just two of the characteristics of what will soon be known as Altuzarra’s signature looks.
