A.Lange & Söhne is a German brand which makes high-quality watches. The company was founded in 1845 by Ferdinand Adolph Lange in the town of Glashütte and it became known for making really good pocket watches and also wrist watches for the use of airmen in World War II. Actually, this is how many watch brands establish their most iconic designs, inspired by militaries, divers or the marine soldiers. However, after the war, the Lange brand lost its property and therefore was forced to close production. Only after 1990, Walter Lange, great-grandson of Ferdinand decided to re-establish the company and managed to do so with the help of some passionate experts in the field. The firs collection after the revival of the company was presented in 1994. Now A. Lange & Söhne is known for its luxury watches which have mechanical movements and are made from gold an platinum, with very few exceptions for limited editions collections. Like many high end watch brands, A. Lange & Söhne also make complicated watches like chronographs and split-seconds chronographs, perpetual calendars or tourbillons. The A. Lange & Söhne Brand Profile shows that its main focus is offering the best possible mechanism and calibres to its customers. Its calibre designers and watchmakers have gathered more than 150 awards for their work.
