Yamamoto in V&A London
Since March 12th until July 10th 2011 the V&A in London presents a retrospective of the work of the incomparable master of Japanese Fashion design Yohji Yamamoto. Within the exhibition which was curated by Ligaya Salazar you will see all the great masterpieces including also the best pieces of the menswear collections. Yamamoto was the first designer who combined elements of Japanese art with Parisian Haute Couture or as he put it: " You can say that designing is quite easy, the difficulty lies in finding a new way to explore beauty."
Future Beauty in the Haus der Kunst in Munich
The exhibition in the Haus der Kunst shows between March 4th to June 19th a complete overview of Japanese fashion design within the last thirty years featuring the greatest brands like Rei Kawakubo, Issey Miyake und Yohji Yamamoto. These big names created in the 1980ies the unique Japanese style with its monochromatic mostly black colors and its fluid & reduced forms which put the focus purely on the perfect cut and proportion of the garments.
